GENERAL FORECAST. Pressure is still low to the east of New Zealand, a cyclone being centred north of Chatham Islands. A moderate anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and pressure is high over Australia. Moderate westerly winds about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere south-west to. southerly winds; still strong to gale force in and north of'Cook Strait, but moderating gradually. Seas rough, north of f arewell Spit and Kaikoura;, elsewhere smooth to moderate in New : Zealand waters. Moderate to fresh, south-west to westerly winds, and moderate to rather rough, seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still showery on the East Coast north of Kaikoura, but improving somewhat; elsewhere fair but some showers later about Foveaux Strait; cool temper-, atures. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate southerly winds. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather. The barometer is rising slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE.
