FAMOUS PAINTINGS.
DRAMATIC RECOVERY,
WORKS OF REMBRANDT AND RUBENS.
Received September 11, 11 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 10. The Evening News says that Scotland Yard has dramatically recovered eighteen paintings by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Rubens, valued at £20,000 which were stolen in March from the Carlton House galleries. The pictures were in a railway cloakroom apparently awaiting shipment abroad.
