SLUGGISH RIVER BOARD.
A meeting of the Sluggish River Drainage Board was held to-day. Mr F. J. Foster occupied the chair, also present being Messrs E. C. Print, D. Coulter, M. J. Ryan and H. Wilton. The chairman moved that the rate struck at the last meeting of the board be confirmed, this being carried. The chairman reported that he had inspected No. 1 drain and had found that good progress was being' made with the battering up of the banks. The overseer stated that the work should be completed to-day. Mr Wilton moved that the overseer commence work at Taikorea. The water was getting way satisfactorily in the remaining drains. Mr Ryan said that if this work were don© it might be classified as an asset. It was resolved that this work be commenced. The clerk was instructed to write to the Oroua Board requesting information as to when and how the amount owing would be paid. It was decided that if the money is not forthcoming before October 9 steps be taken for its recovery. Accounts totalling £39 5s 8d were passed for payment.
