Motor Cars Stolen 'Extract from “Manawatu Evening Standard” of 4th September, 1930.] MOTOR-CARS TAKEN. TWO MORE CASES. During recent weeks there has been an epidemic of motor-car stealing in Palmerston North. The two most recent cases occurred yesterday. Between 2 and 2.30 o’clock a tourerdisappeared from a parking place in the Square, and was not recovered until 2 o’clock this morning, in Boundary Hoad. The second loss was reported last evening when a car was taken from a parking stand in Broadway. A party of seven had come to Palmerston North to attend a picture theatre and at the conclusion of the performance the car had disappeared, and has not so far been recovered. The owner said he locked the car before entering the theatre and that the person who took it must have had an identical key.” The number of cars stolen during the past month is quite considerable and shows no decrease. The solution of this menace, of course, is to remove temptation by not leaving cars parked on the streets.
