Though it is not the first time in the history of racing in New Zealand that the principle of local broadcasting has been introduced to the racecourses, the installation that is being prepared for the Marton Jockey Club’s spring meeting on 6th September is considered a great advance. It is claimed that the world’s most powerful loud-speaking equipment has been arranged for, the speech being clearly and intelligibly projected under favourable conditions, and with this in operation patrons may be assured of the best obtainable in local broadcasting. Naturally, this broadcast will not be available for others than those on the course, to whom will be announced the starters, scratchings, jockeys, positions at the post, description of tne race in running, and the judge’s placings. Thus they will be able to follow each event the more keenly, and when it is known that the announcer engaged by the club for the description ot the races has a perfect knowledge of the horses competing and will be able to give a vivid description of the running, the public may look forward with keen anticipation to the fixture in question. In addition to the description and announcements detailed, the apparatus will be used for supplying patrons with a selected programme of popular music. HAWKE’S BAY HUNT. CLOSING OF ACCEPTANCES. Owners and trainers arc reminded that acecptances for all events at tho s Bay Hunt fixture to be held on Saturday next close on Wednesday night at eight o'clock.
