MISSING FISHERMEN.
HOPE ABANDONED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS. Aug. 13. Although the Rangitikci beaches have been patrolled night and day sinco Monday afternoon, no signs have boon seen of tho missing men, Victor Guinan and Colin Campbell, or of tho launch, and thcro is no hope held of tho unfortunate young fellows being found alive. On Tuesday afternoon Mr Campbell’s coat eamc ashore near the spot where tho remainder of his clothing had been found, viz., between tho northern point of tho Rangitikei and a few hundred yards up Moana Roa beach. Constable Blaxland, of Rongotca, assisted in the search of the norththorn beach all day on Tuesday, and at about 1.30 p.m. a low flying aeroplane skirted tho shore, travelling south, but without result. Everything possible has been dono by parties of men, on foot and on horseback, and the volunteers have suffered severely during tho cold nights. If the men havo been drowned, as seems almost certain, the bodies may not bo recovered for several days. Meanwhile the town and district is in a state of gloom, and sympathy for the anxious women awaiting news of tho missing ones is very striking. • ■
