TELEPHONE DIRECTORY.

POSITION OP WOODVILLE. The inconvenience caused through Woodville telephone subscribers not being listed in the Palmerston North telephone directory was commented upon at yesterday’s meeting of the council of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce. Mr J. H. Stevens said that his attention has been drawn to an article in the Woodville paper, in which it was stated that community of interest had not been considered. Mr Stevens said that, last year the chamber had protested at Woodville being included in the Masterton directory. There was little community of interest between those tovvns, and it had been considered that interests in Woodville and Palmerston North would benefit if the former town were included in the city directory. However, objections had been voiced in Woodville, and no action was taken. Mr A. Shelton, chief postmaster, said that the article in question had come under his notice and he had forwarded it to the Chief Post Office at Wellington, together with a recommendation that Woodville, Dannevirke and Paliiatua subscribers be listed in the city directory. Mr M. A. Eliott: We should support the representations. It is most inconvenient not to have Woodville listed in the Palmerston North directory. The chamber decided, on Mr Eliott’s motion, to write to the secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department supporting the suggested alteration. ’
