The American and New Zealand expeditions will be the only ones on Niaufou, which is in the belt of totality. The American expedition is to be led by Commander C. H. T. Keppler. Professor S. A. Mitchell, of the Leander McCormick Observatory, Virginia University, is the leading scientist. The New Zealanders will leave Auckland by the Niagara, probably on September 23, and will travel from Suva to Niaufou by the Laburnum, arriving at the beginning of October.
