THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. A depression crossed the Dominion yesterday and another is advancing across the Southern Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone is covering the Northern Tasman Sea and the whole of Australia. Winds moderate to strong between southerly and westerly, of gale force at places from Cook Strait southward. Seas rather rough south of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint; elsewhere moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong south-west winds, with rough seas, in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather squally and changeable wiith showers in most districts, heavy at places in the west from Taranaki southward. Cold temperatures. DISTRICT REPORT. COLDER CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, southerly winds moderate to strong to galo later. The weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled and showery. Conditions will become colder shortly. The barometer is rising. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —2ft 9ins.
