The Manawatu-West Coast farm competition has n,ow reached a stage when it may be said that its eventual success depends on the way in which the judging is carried out. Hence it is pleasing to note that the personnel of the judging committee gives good reason for expecting that the judging will be efficiently done. The judging committee is composed of Mr David Collis (farmer and valuer), Mr R. H. Spencer (accountant, Palmerston North), Mr R. P. Connell (Department of Agriculture, Palmerston North) and Mr Oscar Monrad (agent and valuer, Palmerston North). The farming and commercial knowledge of Messrs Collis and Monrad should be of great value in the work of valuation that the competition calls for, especially when it is supplemented by the accountancy knowledge of Mr Spencer who has had wide contact with farming interests through dairy companies and breed associations, and by the Manawatu crop pasture and farm production knowledge which Mr Connell has gained as an officer of the Department of Agriculture. It says something for the public spirited support which is being accorded the competition that the services of all these gentlemen are being given to the farm competition management committee.
