BOXING TOURNAMENT.

WEDNESDAY’S ATTRACTION. Keen interest is already manifest in the amateur boxing tournament to be held iii the Opera House on Wednesday evening, the proceeds of which are to be devoted to the unemployment funds. Apart from the worthy object that will benefit by a good attendance of the public, the bouts arranged indicate that a fine standard of sport may be looked forward to Many of the boys who have been matched will be seen in action in the Manawatu championships next month. A majority of the contestanls are members of the Kongotea, Pahiatua and Feilding boxing clubs, and the displays given in tournaments at these centres indicate that the boys have been well matched and that attractive boxing may be expected. The tournament is being held under the auspices of the Manawatu Boxing Association. The highest price charged is 5s for ringside seats.
