TRADE RECIPROCITY.
NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA. Per Press Association. : CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. There is to be further discussion between Australia and New Zealand on the question of reciprocity in trade, the Prime Minister, Hon. G. W. F’orbes, told a reporter this evening. Recently Hon. do La Perrelle, representing tho Government, had a preliminary discussion with the Minister of Customs for the Commonwealth. This may be followed up by a further conference between the Commonwealth and tlio Dominion.
“Eac)i country gets a certain amount of preference,” said Mr Forbes. “The whole question lias to be examined before we can see what alteration might he made.” .
Commenting on tho Canterbury Fruitgrowers’ Association’s desire for a prohibitive tariff on certain fruits imported into New Zealand, Mr Forbes said that- this question had been considered by the Government, but no definite attitude had been taken. -
