(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, May 19. On June 3rd the British footballers will meet Wellington at Wellington, and as this is the first day of the Otaki races, many will be in a quandary which to patronise. Fatrons of the "king of sports” will, however, bo able to see the racing, and at the same time listen to tho broadcasting of the big match, the Racing Club having made the necessary provision to instal a radio set. This will be an innovation that should be appreciated by many. Results of the Auckland races will also bo broadcast at the Otaki course. Mr and Mrs J. 1\ Brandon have left for Napier on holiday. Among the visitors to Otaki yesterday were Mrs Daniel and Mrs Peare, of Wellington. Mr E. Furse, who has been in the Palmerston North Hospital, returned home yesterday. Mr H. J. Pearse, who has been absent for a time, resumed his duties as postmaster to-day. A wedding took place at Otaki on Saturday when Mr Thomas Reidy, of Otaki, was married to Miss Edith Walker Davies, of Otaki. Mr Tom Bevan, now an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, is reported to be making good progress after an operation. Mr August Rewi, who had boon a resident of Otaki and Paekakariki for some -years, died at the Otaki Hospital on Saturday afternoon. Deceased leaves a widow and a grown-up family. A pretty wedding was celebrated recently, when Miss Ivy Irene Cobb was married to Mr Arnold Alfred Taylor. The ceremony was performed at the To Horo Methodist Church by Rev. Mr Spencer, Miss Windlcy presiding at the organ. Tho church was beautifully decorated by the bride’s friends. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of cream. The bodice was of chenille georgette and diamante trimming and tho skirt was of silver embroidered tulle over crope-de-chine, caught at tho waist with a silver rose. Her veil hung from a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of cream roses and pale pink flowers and maidenhair ferns. The bride was attendod by her sister, Miss Thelma Cobb, and two little flower girls, Juane Fiebig and Molly McGlashan. Mr J. MeLeavey acted as best man. Little Jimmy Fiebig, dressed in a suit of pale green silk, presented the bride with a silver horse shoo as she was leaving the church. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Hautero Hall.
