Mrs Times has gone to Wanganui for a short visit.

Mrs McGill, of Broadway, has gone to Dunedin to stay with her sister, Mrs Cheeseman, whose . daughter ; is seriously ill Madame Ivo Symes is a Wanganui risitor to Palmerston North. Tho friends of Miss Sadie Keen, of Russell Street, who met with an accident yesterday, will, be pleased to learn that she is progressing favourably. While cycling past the corner of Grey and Princess Streets Miss Keen’s cycle and a car driven by Mr J. F. Munn, of Upper Hutt, collided. Miss Keen was thrown to the ground, but was not very seriously injured. The death occurred yesterday of Mrs David Cullinano, of Tangiwa, Karioi, at St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. Mrs (Jullinane was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs N. Hearn, of Moumalmki. She is survived by a widower and eight sons and threo daughters, Mrs Desmond Campion (Fordoll), Misses K. and A. Cullinano, and Messrs John (Sydney), Joseph, and Martin (Tangiwa), Vincent and Timothy (Wellington;, and Patrick, Bernard and Maurice (Wanganui). The members of the Manawatu Croquet Club held their first card afternoon in tho pavilion which was gaily decorated with- autumn leaves und flowers. A very dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames A. Oliver, K. McDonald and H. Sinclair, and Miss Gausted. Bridge and euchre were played and the winners were: Bridge, Mrs H. Brown and Miss Hid; euchre, Mrs Sollitt and Mrs Usmar. The club intend to hold their next card afternoon on Juno ilth in the pavilion. PLUNKET SOCIETY. Mrs A. Coombs presided over the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society yesterday afternoon. There was a fair attendance and arrangements for the annual meeting were discussed. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames H. N. Watson, J. Mounsey, A. A. Langley' and N. Sinclair. A vote of condolence with Mrs Langley in the death of her mother was passed by the meeting, those present standing in silence. The secretary Avas requested to Avrite a letter of sympathy to Mrs Langley. Now that the cold Aveather is approaching the nurses Avould be grateful for any parcels of left off clothing to help distressed cases in the district.

Correspondence ivas received from tho administrative secretary to the effect that Dr. Derrick, medical adviser to the Plunket Society had resigned OAving to ill-health. Dr. Derrick had expressed great regret at having to take this step and offered to continue Avitlr the Avork Avhich did not necessitate his travelling until Sir Truby King returned, or other arrangements Avere made. In . another communication the administrative secretary informed tho branch-that Lord and Lady Bledisloe had consented to be tho patrons of tho society. After some discussion the members agreed to hold tho annual meeting in tho Plunket rooms at tho end of June, subject to tho approval of the finance committee. The Plunket room at tho Showgrounds will be open during the forthcoming Winter Slioav. The winner of the competition for a pair of cot blankets Avas announced, the Avinning number being 19 —Mrs T. Rodgers. Votes of thanks ivero passed to Mrs H. N. Watson for donating the blankets and Mrs Coombs who organised the competition. LADIES’ GOLF. MATCH FOR RAPLEY CUP. A team of 24 lady golfers from the ManaAvatu Club journeye to Wanganui yesterday, the first tAvelvo competing for the Rapley Cup. The Wanganui team retained the trophy by winning eight games.
