Maui and Hawaii, an Air Corps sergeant and three other members of the crew attempted to leave a disabled bomber when 4000 feet in the air, but the shrouds of the former’s parachute became entangled in the ’plane’s rigging, taking him with it to the bottom of the sea. A convoy of aeroplanes settled on the huge seae that were running in efforts to save the survivors.
