CONTEST AT BLENHEIM. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, May 10. W. Pearce, of Wellington, gained tire decision over C. Gear, of Blenheim, in a light-heavyweight boxing contest to-niglit. Both were making their debut in the professional ring. The bout was not particularly thrilling. Both fought hard all the way. Pearce proved a shifty target, displaying superior footwork and general ringcraft. Gear persistently took the fight to his opponent, and a section of the crowd considered he won.
