Miss Amy Johnson’s ’plane was brought, after repairs at Insein, to the Rangoon racecourse shortly before dusk this evening. Miss Johnson intends making a test flight at seven o’clock in the morning, after which she will leave for Bangkok. Though she is 6till disappointed at failing in the object of her flight, owing to the loss of two days caused by the mishap, she is now more cheerful. She is also hopeful of successfully completing the rest of the journey. The weather here is fair, but beyond it is very bad. Miss Johnson stated to-day that to beat Captain Bert Hinkler’s record by days was quite impossible, but it was possible by flying hours. WILL FLY TO SYDNEY. SYDNEY, May 15/ Although yesterday’s cable messages from Rangoon stated that Miss Amy Johnson intended to commence the return flight from Darwin within a fortnight, advices received in Sydney to-dav declare that she is coming on to Sydney. DARWIN PREPARING. DARWIN, May 15. The Mayor, Mr Lucas, is arranging for a civic reception to Miss Amy Johnson, and the Victoria League is preparing to entertain the visitor during her stay. The Government Resident Commissioner is taking no part, as the flight is unofficial. The excitement is growing daily. FLIGHT NOT PLANNED. HINKLER DENIES REPORT. Received May 16, 11.40 a.m. LONDON, May 15. Captain Hinkler, the famous Australian airman, states that there is no foundation for the story that he intends flying to Australia. AIR MAIL ROUTE. RIOO, the giant airship, is expected to leave on her trans-Atlantic flight to Canada and return within a fortnight. Commander Burney hopes that the flight will finally dispose of the doubts raised by many critics as to the efficiency and utility of the airship.
