GENERAL FORECAST. A depression still covers New Zealand, but barometers are now rising in the south-west. An intense anticvclone covers South-Eastern Australia. AA’inds northerly and moderate to strong north of Greymouth and Akaroa; southerlies thence southward and gradually becoming general. Seas rather rough about Cook Strait and rising on the East Coast of tlTe South Island; elsewhere moderate m New Zealand waters. Aloderate to fresh southerly winds and moderate to rather rough seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. AVeather unsettled generally, with rain probable. Temperatures becoming colder. DISTRICT REPORT. COLDER CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate south-easterly winds and freshening. Expect dull weather with much mist and fog in parts. Conditions will become colder. The barometer is unsteady. AIANAAVATU RIVER GAUGE. - Noon. —6ins.
