TERRACE END SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Terrace End School Committee mot last evening, Mr W. B. Cameron presiding. Others present were Messrs J. Davidson, \V. L. Macpherson, H. Smith, G. G. Priest (secretary) and J. H. Nash. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. It. Luke and J. Allan and from Mr A. W. Thompson (headmaster). Mr Thompson reported for the past month that the number on tho roll was 668. The term ending May 9 closed with an average attendance of 634.6 out of an average roll of 666.6. Tho term examinations had been held and report cards issued to the parents. Ho was indebted to the following for donations to the school —footballs from Messrs Luke, Davidson, Petersen and Nash; a box of seedling plants from Mr W. V. Kingsbeer, and two parcels of books for tho library from Aliss K.' Thomson. Tiro school would re-open on Monday. May 26. —The donors were accorded a vote of thanks. Accounts amounting to £7 18s 9d were passed for payment. It was decided to utilise a sum in hand, £lO, towards the purchase of books for the school library. Mr J. M. Arthur, the school custodian, wrote thanking the committee for their letter of appreciation and bontis; also for tlreir considerate treatment, and assuring the committee of his best services at all times
