UR EXCAVATIONS

TEMPLE REVEALED. BUILT BY NEBUCHADNEZZAR. STATE OF PRESERVATION. '(United Press Association.—Bv Electric Telegraph.—Copyright'.) (Times Cables.) Received May 13, 11.50 a.m. LONDON, May 12. The excavation of a low, inconspicuous mound at Ur during the last ten days before the closing of the season’s work revealed a templo built by Nebuchadnezzar in 600 B.C. Apaprently the land was reclaimed from an old harbour, as the foundations have sunw, and the walls on one sido are aslant. The temple is surprisingly preserved, the mud and brick walls retaining the plaster and whitewash, although the decorations have vanished. The building, which at present is twenty feet high, was originally lofty.
