PROBATION FOR ACCOUNTANT.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 12. Described by his counsel as a man whose credentials were as high as those of any other accountant in the Dominion, Bernard Sidney Spencer, aged 31, an accountant, came before the Police Court for sentence on three charges of obtaining sums of £27 Bs, £4B Is lid and £25 19s lOd by cheque from a city firm by falsely representing that he had paid these sums for income tt* Mr Hunt, S.M., said that the probation officer had recommended probation. “With his arm as it is the man is practically crippled,” said Mr Hunt. “He has now lost his professional status and I think the ends of justice will be met if I place him on probation for two years and order him to make restitution of £97 within two months.”
