THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An extensive anti-cyclone is still centred over New Zealand. A depression is advancing slowly from the sou til-west Tasman Sea. Light to moderate easterly to northerly winds north of New- Plymouth and Napier; elsewhere northerly freshening and becoming strong in Cook and Foveiux Straits. Seas rough in Foveaux Strait and rising on tho West Coast of the South Island and about Cook Strait. Smooth to moderate elsewhere in New Zealand waters. Freshening north winds and rising sea in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still fair to fine, but cloud and haze increasing generally, aiul, showers developing soon in the western and southern portion of the South Island. Milder temperatures.
DISTRICT REPORT. WARMER CONDITIONS. The Government meteorologist re ports;—The indications are for moderate northerly winds and freshening. There is a prospect of fair weather, with increasing haze and cloudiness, with possibly some showers. The weather will probably become warmer. The barometer is falling slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE.
