SHOOTING AFFAIR.

SEQUEL IN COURT. Per Press Association. TE KUITI, May 9. The sequel to the shooting affair, which occurred eight miles from Pio Pio on January 27 last, when a young native, Kone Pairama, better known as Kruger Pairama, allegedly made an attempt on the life of a half caste youth known as Jimmy Davidson, by shooting at him with a rifle, brought Pairama to the Court " to-day on a charge of attempted murder. After the shooting, which followed a quarrel between the parties, who are respectively uncle and nephew, accused came to To Kuiti, where he was taken into custody by the local police. As there was a possibility that Davidson’s injury might have proved mortal (having received a bullet in the groin), on the evening of the shooting Davidson’s depositions were taken at his bedside in Te Kuiti Hospital. After lengthy evidence had been given by fourteen witnesses, accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court. Bail was refused.
