PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ MATCH. (From Our Own Correspondent). RANGIOTU, May 7. The combined Rangiotu-Bainesse School boys’ team again proved themselves victorious on the local grounds last Saturday when they defeated the Oroua DownsTaikorea team by the substantial margin of 22 points to 3. The standard of play on the whole was a marked improvement on the previous Saturday’s match, and as the season advances better form will no doubt be exhibited. iFor the winnerc tries were secured by John Moore (2), Dug Donaldson (2) and Eldon Donaldson (2) and two converted tries. For the loosers V. Sexton secured one try. Mr W. Larkins controlled the game. ' MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. Thore was a good muster of members at the usual weekly shoot held last Monday evening. Since the commencement of the season thd attendance has been somewhat poor; however, with the near approach of the club’s first match against R.S.A. on May 16th members came forward in full force in order to get into form for the coming contest with the exsoldiers. In the eliminations for the week’s trophy I/.. J. Walker secured the coveted prize. The evening’s scores were as follow: —H. Fitcher (12), 63, 66, 141; Rangi Paki (7), 66, 67, 140; H. Chapman (7), 67, 65, 139; L. J. Walker (4), 67, 68, 139; Tuhi Larkins (6), 65, 67, 138; F. Robin (3) 68, 67, 138; F. Bond (2), 69, 66, 137; G. Lamont (14), 59, 63, 136; F. Searancke (4) 65, 66, 135; H. Simmons (8), 67, 59, 134; G. Fitzgerald (9), 65, 60, 134; R. Dixon (4), 66, 62, 132; B. Kapia (12), 59, 63,-132; M. Toogood (3),' 66, 60, 129; S. McCallum (12), 49, 62, 123. EUCHRE AND DANCE. The Rangiotu Hall Society held the first of its series" of social functions last evening. There was a good attendance and a very pleasant social evening was spent. With the latest addition and improvements to the local hall, the games were held in the new supper room, the coziness and comfort of which was' added to by a bright and warm log fire. Dancing was indulged in by the non-players and enthusiasts of the “light-fantastic,” while excellent music was supplied by Mr W. Larkins and extras by Miss Robinson. . The euchre prizes for the evening were annexed by Mr and Mrs H. Pearce while the consolation prizes were awarded to Miss Feist and Mr S. Pearce. The society will be holding -the next function in a fortnight’s time and the chairman announced that the committee had decided to award a special prize to the lady and gentleman respectively scoring tho highest aggregate of points during the course of the season.
