CERTIFICATES PRESENTED.

SWIMMING AND LIFE-SAVING. Mr W. L. Fitzherbert, president of tlio Manawatu Centro of the Royal Life Saving Society, Mr W. C. Collier, chairman of the centre’s executive, Mr A. D. Campbell, president of the Manawatu Centre <pf tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, and other members of the Life Saving Society’s executive, visited the Girls High School yesterday afternoon when life-saving and swimming certificates won by pupils were presented. Mr Fitzherbert, who made tire presentations, complimented the pupils on their performances and congratulated the school on having gained so many life saving awards. Mr Collier remarked on Manawatu's elevation to the status of a centre. Mr Campbell thanked the stuff for their work of instruction and expressed pleasure that the Education Department was making swimming and life saving a compulsory feature of school life. On the call of Mrs Rhodes the girls gave three cheers for tho swimming and life saving bodies.
