VALUELESS CHEQUES.

ACCUSED ADMITTED TO PROBATION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 8. Alfred Randolph Barton, aged 27 years, a surveyor, who walked into the detective office on May 1 and informed the police that he had been issuing valueless cheques, was charged to-day with issuing cheques valued at £56 10s. He was granted two years’ probation. He explained that he came to Auckland to enter a position, but was disappointed and went on a drinking bout.
