CALCUTTA RIOTS.
ARMOURED CARS IN THE STREETS. "DELHI, April 16. In connection with the riots in Calcutta, the auxiliary forces and armoured cars were called out, and are patrolling tlie streets. In other parts of the city traffic was held up by jeering crowds. Fifty, including fifteen British police sergeante and Indian constables, and eleven firemen were injured. Two Sikhs were taken to hospital suffering front bullet wounds. Miss Anna Dench, a British - girl, who was pulled from a motor-cycle and stoned, was rescued by British police when in the act of being dragged away by Sikhs. Police., armed with bayonets cleared the streets, while the lire brigade manned the hoses. -Many roads were blocked by dismantled cars, and fanatical students held up trams by lying on tho rails. 'lrani cars were stoned at Bhowampore and nine were injured, including a woman, who is in a grave condition. Several cars were wrecked/ The police arrested twenty, and discovered dump* of stones hidden on housetops.
