OREGON TIMBER.
MASSEY COLLEGE WORK. “ONLY SMALL PERCENTAGE.” . “There is only a verv small percentage of Oregon timber being used,” a “Standard” reporter was informed, at the Massey Agricultural College this morning when inquiries were made concerning the statement made by Mr J. E(odgens at a meeting of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, in connection with the use of imported woods in construction work at the new building. It was stated that no dadoes whatever were of Oregon timber, which had only been used in the domestic quarters of the refectory for the skirting and architraves. In the remainder of the building rimu was being used throughout for the finishing work. . Big Oregon timbers were certainly being used, the “Standard” ' reporter was informed, but that w.as customary, as no largo dry timbers were to be obtained in New Zealand. The science block was being finished >n rimu, while the flooring was of matai. Wherever possible New Zealand materials had been used.
