RUGBY IN CANTERBURY.
MATCHES TO BE BROADCAST. Per. Press Assoiation. CHRISTCHURCH, April 16. The question of broadcasting Rugby football matches in Canterbury this season came up before the Rugby Union’s Management Committee last evening. It was decided that the Broadcasting Company be given permission to broadcast from Lancaster Park on Saturdays and at other times, provided that all Saturday matches were broadcast. . : “The company should, not be allowed to pick and choose,” said a member.
EFFECT ON BRITISH MATCHES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 16. Commenting on the Canterbury Rugby Union’.s decision with regard to broadcasting, Mr A. R. Harris, general manager of the Radio Company, said that this would mean in-effect that the company would not be able to take •full advantage of the recent decision of the New Zealand, Union to allow the broadcasting of the British matches; and these plans would have to be curtailed.
