THE WEATHER
. GENERAL FORECAST. The weather is still controlled by the anti-cyclone which has been, covering New. Zealand and the Tasman Sea for the past few days. Moderate to fresh easterly winds in the far north; elsewhere southerly, light to moderate generally, but fresh at first on the East Coast of the South Island. Seas generally smooth to moderate. Light to moderate south-east to south winds and smooth to moderate seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. . Later winds variable, and tending northerly. A continuance of fine weather generally, but a few isolated showers likely at first along the East , Coast. Temperatures becoming gradually milder. Some early morning fogs probable. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: Tho indications are for variable and moderate breezes, moderate winds prevailing later, and veering by west to north, then freshening. There are prospects of fair to cloudy weather. Conditions will be misty at times. The barometer shows little movement, but has a falling tendency. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon.—9in.
