GENERAL FORECAST. l An anti-cyclone still extends from New Zealand to Australia. A slight low-pressure wave has, however, crossed Southern New Zealand and disturbed conditions are indicated north of Norfolk Island. Strong easterly winds north of Auckland and strong westerly about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere variable, but with light to moderate southerly prevailing. ■ Seas rather rough north of East" C a P e an d in Foveaux Strait; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Fresh to strong south-east winds with rough seas in the northern portion of the Eastern Tasman Sea. Light to moderate southerlies and smooth to moderate seas in the central and southern portions. Weather still mainly fair to fine, but further showers in the extreme north and south of the Dominion and also some isolated showers on the East Coast. Cold temperatures with inland frosts. DISTRICT REPORT. FAVOURABLE CONDITIONS.
The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, moderate southerly winds prevailing. There is a prospect of fair weather continuing. The night will probably be very cold, with frosts inland. The barometer shows little movement. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —9in.
