It was also mentioned that No. 6 hail had been prepared for use aa a gymnasium. The chairman stated that it had been decided to endeavour to restrict play on tho oval to a minimum this year in order to give the young grass a chance. It was, however, still possible for the primary schools to use the grounds at the rear of the stand. The A. and P. Association also notified that the' grounds would bo occupied on certain occasions during Easter. Mr Crawford mentioned that tho Kia Toa Club hoped to play tho Pirates (Wanganui) Club on Easter Saturday at the Showground. The chairman thought that it would be possible to arrange for a ground. It was decided to reply accordingly. In view of tho lack of interest in tho B matches, and tho expenso entailed it was not deemed advisable to continue these games. Mr Hardie suggested that the B team could be sent out to one of tho sub-unions on the dates the A team was engaged, tho chairman agreeing that it might well be _ preferable. However, no action was taken in tho matter meantime. ■ - The Horowhenua Council made ■ enquiry as to whether the Manawhenua passes would hold good on occasion of the English visit.—lt was decided to reply pointing out that the match would be under the control of the Now Zealand. ' With a view to endeavouring to launch' a senior B grade locally, applications were called by the council and entries were received from the Woodyille, Kia Toa and Massey College Clubs. It was considered that it would be impossible to run the competition with only three teams, although some of' the members were of the opinion that l the Old Boys Club could well make a fourth entry. Mr Eglintori pointed out that the Old

Boys Club had seriously considered the position and had come to the decision that it was not possible to enter a team. Mr Mackio mentioned that there was a prospect that Woodville would be weak this year a*id his club would have preferred to play senior B. When put to the meeting, it was decided not to proceed with the competition and, in accordance with the requests made by the- clubs in such an eventuality, Woodville was promoted to senior grade and the Koa Toa and Massey Collego team’s reverted to junior grade.
