MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu ana West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday, Mr L. B. Wall presiding oyer a good attendance. _ ■ On behalf of Messrs Carter Sd Shannon, it was reported that suitable horses could not he obtained for V a buck-jumping competition at the winter fixture, but it was-hoped to do something in that direction for the Spring Show. The suggestion was ad - vanced that a yearling steer riding competition be, inaugurated for boys sixteen years of age, the matter is to be considered later. Mr J. W. Deem (director of the fields division fo the Department of Agriculture) wrote regretting that nothing could be done regarding the proposed agricultural plot at the Showgrounds, owing to tho expense involved in fencing, which ’ the association had declined to meet. Tho letter was received.
The Inspector of Police advised that arrangements would be made, in accordance with the request of tho association, for a constable tp assist in keeping the oval clear during ring events at future shows.
The Royal Agricultural Society advked that the annual conference would be' held in Wellington on June 25. — The president stated that' the delegates had already been appointed. Messrs Aulsebrook and Co. (Dunedin) forwarded a donation of two guineas towards the cooking section.—The gift was acknowledged with thanks. Alterations to -the fruit classes .as recommended by the schedule committee were adopted.
