RONGOTEA.

SOCIAL CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, April 14. The Bongotca Social Club held their second euchro tournament for this season in tho Masonio Hall on Thursday evening, and again there was a large attendance of players. After some very interesting games were indulged in the following were declared the winners: Gentlemen, Mr J. R. McCall;, ladies, Mrs A. Bottcher. Consolation prizes, went to the following: Gentlemen, Mr L. McKay; ladies, Miss M. Liggins. After supper was partakon of numerous card gamee were indulged in until a late hour. FOOTBALL. On Saturday afternoon a team of footballors from Rongotea journeyed to Awahuri and played a friendly match with that team. Although the Rongotea team fielded several juniors and third grade players, tlioy kept knocking hard at their opponents’ line, but found it hard to penetrate tho Awahuri defences. The rearguard functioned well on several occasions, and from a passing bout D, Burne scrambled over in the oorner, with several Awahuri players clinging to him. G. Goldfinch was unable to find the uprights. Spurred by this roverse, Awahuri hustled the Rongotea defence, and from an infripgeroent on the twenty-fiva line, R. Cribb equalised the score with a nice kick. No further scores wore forthcoming and when time was sounded tho scores were: Awahuri 3, Rongotea 3. TENNIS CLUB. In order to enlarge the funds of the Rongotea Tennis Club a cake for disposal was kindly presented to the club by Mrs 0. D. Tunmcliffe, the winner being Mrs 11. E. Fieldhouse. Tho thanks, of the club are due to Mrs Tunnicliffe for her generous support, and it is to be hoped that, with the funds at present in hand, the oourts will be top-dressed and made more suitable for playing next season.
