MOTOR CARS AT SHOW.

EXHIBITION WANTED. NEGOTIATIONS WITH TRADERS. Advice was received by the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association at its meeting to-day from the Manawatu branch of the Motor Traders’ Association that, owing to the cost of exhibiting at shows, and the small benefits received, no steps could be taken to show cars at the coming fixture. It was stated that their attitude'was not an apathetic one, as individual members had supported the prize funds, in some cases with quite fair donations. This was the reply received to representations made recently by the association with the view to staging an exhibition at the Winter Show this year. The president (Mr L. B. Wall) stated that the matter had been discussed by the finance committee yesterdav, but the letter forwarded by the motor traders practically closed the door on the. negotiations. Consequently, it had been decided that efforts should bo made to secure an exhibition of British cars, and Messrs J A. Nash, AI.P. and J. .Linklater, ALP., had undertaken to interview the interested parties, while a letter had been forwarded to Mr L. A. Paish, British Trade Commissioner. Mr Andrew Guy expressed the opinion that it would pay the. association to subsidise an exhibition of British cars and he emphasised the importance of the matter, 1 The president stated that the space charge was sixpence per square foot at the Winter Show and fourpence per square foot at the Spring Snow, but the association had put up a building at a’cost of £I7OO for the motor exhibits and under the circumstances the spnce’rates were reasonable. Mr H. R. Lancaster stated that the motor exhibition was an important feature of 'show fixtures and should be encouraged. It was reported that the space charges were £8 per car and Mr Guy urged that they should lie reduced. jyjj. J_ F.
