WELLINGTON CENTENARY.

EXHIBITION IN 1940. Por Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 14. The holding of an international exhibition in 1040 to celebrate the centenary of Wellington was decided on to-day by a representative meeting of citizens. The Mayor, Mr G. A. Troup, who called the meeting, said that 1940 was some time off, but it was necessary to let others know that Wellington intended to hold an exhibition. The other cities had all had a turn, and it was Wellington’s turn now. Mr Spence, secretary of the Dunedin Exhibition, offered to supply all data concerning the organisation and control of that exhibition for 150 guineas, so it was decided to ask the City Council to vote this sum for the purchase of data. The Mayor was authorised to take what steps, were necessary to proceed with the project.
