WANGANUI MEETING. LIVERPOOL HANDICAP TO’ LOGAN’S PRIDE. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, April 13. The weather was dull and threatening early on Saturday .for . tho .concluding day of the Wanganui .Trotting Club’s annual meeting, but soon cleared up and finished fine. Tho attendance was much better'than on the opening day, but speculation was again limited, the amount handled for tho seven races being £7612, compared with £11,176 10s for the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £14,375, a decrease of £5370 as compared with the £19,745 bandied on 16 races last year. Tho track was in good order after the rain. After the Suburban Handicap the stewards considered a protest by Lady Yvonne’s connections concerning Baron Derby’s alleged inconsistent running, but the explanation of the owner of the winner was accepted as satisfactory and the placings were unaltered. However, tho stewards lined Woodficld, owner-driver of Baron Derby, £5 for failing to notify the fact that ho . had lengthened his - hopples as compared with tho’ first day. . - . An inquiry into tho alleged - inconsist ent running of Ockley Wood, winner of the Ballanco Handicap, resulted _ in the explanation being considered satisfactory. Results :

Aitken, owner-rider, of Taihape, was injured on Saturday at the Wanganui Trotting Club’s- meeting. 110 was riding Puna Haka in the fifth race —the Stewdars’ Handicap—and had just entered the straight when Wee Thorpe, ridden by P. H. Green, came across, and the two horses caught each other’s heels, both coming down. Mr Aitken was taken to the Wanganui Public Hospital with a broken pelvis. Ho was reported to-day to be progrossing, although Suffering considerably. The othor rider and two horses were unhurt. Mr Aitken will probably have to remain in hospital for a considerable time. Mr C. Willetts, of Unworn, will take Puna Haka to Ilawcra to fulfil its engagements next week. ' NOTES. By driving Sir Guy to victory at Wanganui on Thursday C. S. Donald brought his total of winning drives up to the record for the' Dominion held by W. Tomkinson, As the present season is not nearly finished yet, Donald is going to establish figures that may stand for a long time. A Dunedin writer states that Mr G. J. Barton is contemplating a big reduction in the number of trotters and gallopers that he has in work. Of late Mr Barton’s luck with light-harness horses has been out. Altogether, however, Mr Barton has been a very fortunlo owner and in five) seasons he won with horses trained by W. J. Tomkinson over £25,000. A present ho has a number of horses in work, but most of them are on tight marks, and with a big number of improving horses opposed to them they find it difficult to win races, says an exchange. Glcnrossie, winner of the 'Wanganui Trotting Cup, is only a three-year-old, but he is evidently above the average. Ho won a race at the Wellington meeting last month and at the time the opinion was expressed that he was entitled to take his place with tile best of his age in the Dominion, Glcnrossie is one of L, 0. Thomas’s team, trained in Wellington.
