CHILLED EGGS.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 10. Allegations made at a meeting of the Auckland Egg Export Committee that large quantities of eggs from cool store were being released tor sale without being stamped “chilled” were brought by a deputation before the notice of Dr. Hughes, medical officer of health, at Auckland. The deputation included Mr E. C. Jarrett, Government poultry instructor (and grader for Auckland. The deputation asked that the regulation contained in the Food and Drugs Act of 1924, that “no person shall sell •any eggs lor human consumption which have been in cold storage for a longer period than ten weeks, unless tho eggs are stamped ‘chilled,’ ” be enforced. Dr. Hughes gave an assurance that legal proceedings would be taken where breaches of the regulation were detected. He also said that the department would seek the co-operation of the Agricultural Department in the enforcement of the regulation.
