CO-OPERATIVE BUILDING.
MANAWATU SOCIETY. A meeting of shareholders of the Manawatu Co-operative Building Society was held last evening, Mr W. Xewlands presiding. A number of Marton and Wanganui shareholders, ivho were present, were welcomed by the chairman. Ballots for free of interest loans resulted as follow: —Mrs S. V. Fiebig (Feilding), £300; Mr A. V. Edwards (Bulls), £2OO. A meeting of directors was held, later, when Messrs. W. Newlande, G. B. Cope, G. D'. Pattle, J. J. O’Shea and W. Ward were present. The secretary reported that 800 shares were applied for in the new No. 6 group. The total were allotted. The following loans, free of interest, were confirmed: No. 1 group, £700; No. 3 group, £3ooj and No. 4 group, £3OO. The chairman remarked that £60,000 had been advanced to shareholders, enabling 160 to acquire their own dwellings.
