NEWSPRINT MANUFACTURERS
AID IN AUSTRALIA. ' CANBERRA, April 9. It is understood that the Federal Government lias decided to grant assistance to manufacturers of newsprint in Australia, probably in the form of a bounty of £4 a ton on paper made in the,' Commonwealth, and an extra duty of £1 on imported newsprint. This follows the lines of the undertaking by the Bruce Ministry that aid should be given local manufacturers conditionally on the output reaching 30,000 tons per annum.-
