NEW POWER LINE.
WORK IN HAND. ALTERATIONS ~AT SUBSTATION. , Work is at present being carried out by the employees of the ManawatuOroua Power Board on the news transmission line being erected between Bunythorpe and Palmerston North. Although cfose-rdowns in the power supply have been of brief duration, much preparatory work has been necessary to enable the operations to be carried out with the minimum of delay. Last Sunday fifteen men were engaged for over fifteen hours in. stringing the wires over two sets of 11.000 .volt lines, the power being cut oft owing to the risk involved. At midnight last night alterations commenced on the wires leading into the Bunnythorpe substation, and continued for one hour. Heavy copper replacements were necessary.
