OBITUARY.

QUEEN VICTORIA OF SWEDEN. ROME, April 4. The death has occurred of Queen Victoria of Sweden, aged 68. It was a poignant fact that Queen Victoria was unable to recognise King Gustav, who arrived at the bedside while she was dying. King Gustav reached Naples on Thursday, when, in consequence of reassuring reports as to the Queen’s condition, he visited a theatre. He had not been long at the theatre when he received news that the Queen was worse. He immediately continued the journey. Queen Victoria had suffered from lung trouble for many years, and finally her heart weakened. The King and Queen of Italy placed flowers on the death-bed. Queen Victoria’s body will be conveyed by train to Swinemunde, and thence taken by warship to Stockholm. The funeral will probably take place on Saturday. POOR HEALTH IN LATER YEARS. STOCKHOLM, April 5. The news of Queen Victoria’s death was received when the theatres were opening. The performances were abandoned and all dancing and other amusements ceased. Poor health had caused the Queen to spend most of her later years abroad. Queen Victoria was the daughter of Friedrich", Grand Duke of Baden. She was married in 1881 to the Crown Princo of Sweden, who succeeded to the throne on the death of his father in 1907. She has left two sons, the Crown Princo Gustav and Princo Wilhelm, and several grandchildren.
