THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. The cyclone which previously was located in the Northern Tasman Sea has since moved southward, and is now situated west of New Zealand. Northerlv winds north of Kawhia and East Cape, backing to westerly and later to south-westerly; elsewhere north-east-erly to south-easterly; moderate to fresh and increasing generally. Seas rough south of East Cape ; elsewhere in New Zealand waters moderate, but rising. North winds in the northern portion of the Eastern Tasman Sea; east to south-east in the southern portion, and southerlies shortly becoming general; moderate to strong generally with rough sea®. Unsettled weather, dull and misty, with rain developing in most districts and some heavy falls in the eastern districts. Temperatures becoming colder. . DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for moderate northerly winds and freshening. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, ■ with scattered showers. The barometer is falling slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —9in.
