PERSONAL.
Sergeant T. Moriarty, a member of the Palmerston North Police Force for the past six years, who left yesterday on transfer to Frankton Junction, was farewelled by his Palmerston North comrades and was presented with a dinner service, silver presented with a dinner service, silver teapot and pipe as a memento of pleasant associations. Inspector Simpson, who made the presentation, congratulated the sergeant on his promotion and wished him success in his new sphere. He had carried out his duties with zeal and Palmerston North was losing a very painstaking officer. Senior-Detective Quirke, Sergeant Hill, Detective Russell, Constables Cole and Patterson voiced similar remarks. Sers geant Moriarty, in reply, said that the .associations that he had made had been most pleasant, and he would carry away with him recollections cf good fellowship and happy times spent. Sergeant Moriarty first joined the police in 1910 at Wellington and later went to Wanganui, where he was promoted sergeant in 1923. He then returned to Wellington for'a, short while before coming to Palmerston North. Prior to coming to the Dominion he was in the London Police.
