JUNIOR REFORM LEAGUE.

MR AND’ MR'S COATES 'ENTER-' _ TAINED, ■ Last evening the hewly-formed Palmerston North branch of the Junior Reform League held an enjoyable social, tjie principal guests at which were Rt. Hon. and Mrs J. G. Coates. There was an attendance of over 300 in the Municipal Hall, including the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs A. J. Graham, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., and Mrs Nash, and Mr J. Linklater, M.P. The president of thp branch, Mr A. W. Yortt. in welcoming Mr Coates, informed tnose present that the chief aim of the organisation was to afford information to young people on social and political matters. Mr Yortt thanked all who had assisted with the function, mentioning especially those who had given items, the, chaperones, Mesdames Bateman and Oram, the secretary (Mr Te A. Pitama) and Mr Nash. Mr Graham welcoiried Mr Coates to Palmerston North. Me realised that Mr Coates had done a great deal for New; Zealand and always put his country first. Mr Graliam welcomed the formation of the Junior League in Palmerston North, not as a Reform organisation, but as one which would have great educative potentialities. Mr Nash also paid a tribute to Mr Coates and then tendered a word of explanation. There were many. of his supporters who had .not been invited. Only a limited number of invitations couid be sent out and the Junior Reform League had compiled their own list. They had, however, invited all the speaker’s committee. » Mr Coates addressed those present on the aims and ideals of the New Zealand Political Reform League and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his attendance on the motion of Mr Linklater. . ...... The . evening. was spent in dancing, interspersed with musical items.
