FOOTBALL MEETING. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, April 4. ’ Mr T. Pagan presided over the adjourned annual meeting of the Feilding Football Club last night, a large attendance being present. 1 The following officers were elected : President, Mr T. Bowler, C. Hight, G. Fitzgerald, S. Carson, T. Kelley; auditor, Mr >A. H. Maguire; secretary and treasurer, left to incoming committee to appoint; club captain, Mr N. Jones, • ’ GENERAL. It was decided that the subscription rates remain the same as last year, viz., seniors 17s 6d, juniors 15s, third grade ss, all less 5s if paid before a certain date Messrs J. Koa<;h, (J. Collins, f l. Kelly, C Hight, K. Fitzgerald, I. Zuppicish, U. Benge, K. ShaplesKi and S. Carson were appointed a .social committee. 1 A temporary selection committe was set up as under: —Messrs T. Collins, M. Bowler, U. Hight, S. Carson, T. Kelly and A. R. Mieiu. Arrangements were finalised for the playing of the annual opening game of the season with llui Mai to-morrow, tho match to take place at Manakau. The request of the Apiti Football Club for a match was granted, tUb game to take place on April 12. It was-decided to reply to the Wanganui Technical School Old Doys’ Ciub that the Feilding Club would be unable to accept its offer of a match this season. A junior game against Kiwitoa was arranged to take placo at Feilding on April 12. ' . In regard to the correspondence received from the Manawatu Rugby Union and Massey College concerning the playing of a senior B competition, it was decided, on the motion of Mr T. Collins, that, it was the Feilding Club’s considered opinion that at present it is inadvisable to run such a competition, A practice match at Johnston Park will bo held, to-morrow for those players who do not make the journey to Manakau. The arranging .of matters in connection with the gymnasium was left to the incoming committee. Regarding gymnasium expenses, the club delegate was instructed to endeavour to obtain full expenses from the Rugby Union. Mr A. R. Miers, the secretary of the club for many .years, who resigned his position, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his services, the fchairman eulogising Mr. Miors’s unselfish work in the interests of the club' during- the period ho had been connected with it. 9 BUILDING ACTIVITIES. "V FEILDING, April 5.' For the year ended March 31, the Feilding Borough Council issued 75 building permits to a total value of nearly £IB,OOO, approximately double the amount for each of the two previous years. The figures for the past six years are as f0110w:—1924, 10w:—1924, £24,697; 1925', £25,983; 1926, £10,151; 1927, £9815; 1928, £9579; 1929, £IB,OOO. Most of the erections last year were dwelling houses of the bungalow type, the majority, of the other permits being alterations to existing houses and business premises, only ono new block being erected in the business area. POLO. Teams from the Feilding and Parewanui Polo Clubs met on the polo, grounds at Feilding yesterday afternoon in ai contest for the West Coast Polo Association’s Cup. The Rangitikei players, who were the holders of. the trophy, outclassed the local team to win by 13 goals to- nil. GENERAL ITEMS. From Mr J. Foster, business manager of “His Niccq” Coy, the Feilding municipal library committco have ’ received , a cheque for £SO for the purchase, of new books for tho library. This sum represents the net proceeds of the recent presentation of “Niobe’ by the company and is another instance of the public good it has clone in Feilding, and tho thanks of tho people of the town will bo accorded it. The annual balance sheet and report of tho Oroua County Council for 1929-30 has .been compiled And it it .understood that the figures reveal a very satisfactory state of affairs in the county finances. A slight earthquake was felt in Feilding just before 1.45 p.m. yesterday. CHARGE (OF ASSAULT. ' William fjamuel Adams was charged at a special 6ittihg of the Foilding Court this morning with, on April 1, assaulting two' young ladies. ' «.. • On the application of Sergeant- Cahill,a remand until Tuosday was granted by Mr Jas. Pennoy, J.P. who presided. Mr Power appeared for accused.
