CONVICTS PERISH.
• VICTIMS OF DEVIL’S ISLAND. PARIS, April 1. Two hundred out of 673 convicts sent to Devil’s Island in November were dead by March, according to a letter written by a warden and sent to a relative. The dead included the murderers Barataute and Mesterino. They were victims of psittacosis.
