PURCHASE OF PROPERTY.

BY CATHOLIC CHURCH. EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES. Negotiations have been finalised by St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, of Palmerston North, for the acquisition of an area of land'l acre 11 perches in extent adjoining the present church site. The purchase of the property, which promises to be a voidable one for the extension of future activities, has been effected from Nurse Vincent. The section is a splendid one, and is suitable for any purpose, having a frontage of 141 feet to Amesbury Street, with a depth of five chains, extending right up to the boundary fence at the rear of the present church. The primary reason for the acquisition of the new. property is to provide scope for the future extension of the Church’s educational activities. No definite project is as yet in view. ; but it is understood that the possibility of a Brothers’ School being established on the site to give secondary tuition is by no means remote, as it has long been felt that the building of a Catholic College at this centre would fulfil a steadily growing need.
