ODDFELLOWS’ EXECUTIVE.
ANNUAL MEETING. THE YEAR’S OPERATIONS. | The annual executive meeting of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, 1.0.0. F., was opened at the Orient Hall, Palmerston North, yesterday.' Bro. D. F. Smillie, G.M. of Palmerston North, presided. Delegates present were Bros. J. I. G. Sommerville, D.G.M., Balclutha; Guy, G.W., Auckland ; W. F. Crooke, G.S., Dunedin; L. Deans Ritchie, G.T., Dunedin: D,* R. Cooper, P.G.M., Auckland and G. F. Rudkin, R.L., Wellington. The conference, which is hot open to the Press, will conclude on Thursday morning. Although the Gran£ Lodge session was held in Palmerston North in 1911, the present is the first occasion that the annual executive meeting has been held in this town. Statistics presented to the conference yesterday showed that, dijf-» ing the year, tlio membership had increased to 17,124, eight new lodges being opened. Despite an increase of £2286 in claims on the sick and funeral fund, the latter had shown an increase of £20,761 during the year. Details were given as follow, tire figures for the previous year being shown in parentheses: —Sick claims paid £13,678 6s 8d (£11,711 18s Id), increase £1966 8s 7d: funeral claims paid, £2390 (£2070), increase £320; totals, £16,068 6s Bd, £13,781 18s Id, increase £2286 8s 7d. Credit balance sick fund, £184,713 11s 6d (£171,180 15s 9d), increase £13,532 15s 9d; credit balance funeral fund, £88.060 Is. fid (£80,831 6s 2d), increase £7228 15s 4d; totals £272,773 13s (£252,012 Is lid), increase £20,761 11s Id. The total accumulated assets were stated to !J* £302,000. The grand trustees submitted the following statement of investments as at March, 1930, the figures for February, 1929, being given in parentheses: Auckland £55,709 (£51,468), increase £4241; Wellington £16,817 (£14,737), increase £1580; North Canterbury £30,002 (£27,459), incredae £2543; North Otago £13,610 (£12,835), increase £775; Southland £12,1)36 (£12,380), decrease £194; Grand Lodge £163,319 (£151,610), increhse £11,709; totals, £291,143 (£270,489), increase £20,848.
