FLOOD DISASTER.
MOURNING IN FRANCE. .DAMAGE RUNS INTO MILLIONS. Received March 11, 10.5 a.m. PARIS, March 10. The Prime Minister, M. Tardieu, fold Press representatives at Toulouse that the state of things in the flood area resembled the devastated regions after the war. He emphasised that the remedy must be similar. Personal sufferings must be aided with hard cash; peasants must be housed, and the vine industry helped by. the Government. To-day is a day of mourning throughout France for the victims of the flood. Flags are at half-mast, members of the Government have cancelled their public engagements, social ceremonies are postponed, and all broadcasting stations are silent. It is estimated that the damage will reach a sum equivalent to £12,000,000. Despite the magnitude of the disaster, it is expected that the National Fund and Government grants will be sufficient to repair the ageBetween Montaubaw and Moissac many .people are still marooned on the housetops.
